The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and the Barge Operators of Nigeria (BOAN) have congratulated Dr. Abubakir Dantsoho, who was recently appointed the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
Both organisations in separate statements described the appointment as being made on merit.
MWUN under the leadership of Comrade Adewale Adeyanju described Dantsoho as an astute administrator who has gone through all strategic departments of the Authority; hence, his appointment did not come as a surprise to the union, but as a result of absolute merit.
“His dedication, commitment, determination, discipline, and steadfastness brought him thus far having held the position of Assistant General Manager (Servicom), Principal Manager (Tariff & Billing), and Port Manager, Onne Port.

“Dr. Dantosho also held the position of Chief of Staff to Alhaji Muazu Sambo, the former Minister of Transportation; giving him all the edge for the designation.
“The Maritime Workers Union will give the new MD of NPA all necessary support and partner him as he resumes duty in the foremost Maritime parastatal in the country.
The Union is wishing Dr. Dantosho well as he navigates the ship of the Authority in the Maritime Sector” Adeyanju said in a statement
On its part, BOAN in a statement expressed optimism that Mr. Dantsoho’s vast experience and leadership skills will usher in a new era of progress and efficiency within the NPA.

As key stakeholders in Nigeria’s inland waterways, BOAN said it is eager to see the continued development and enhancement of the Nation’s ports under his stewardship.
To ensure continued development at the ports the Association calls on Mr. Dantsoho to sustain collaboration with all stakeholders, including barge operators, to foster a cooperative environment that promotes industry efficiency and growth.
“We are confident that by working together, we can navigate the challenges facing our industry and achieve greater success in Nigeria’s maritime sector”
BOAN also looks forward to a fruitful and collaborative relationship with Mr. Dantsoho and the NPA, and expressed readiness to support initiatives that will enhance the operations and efficiency of the country’s inland waterways.
