Euro 2024: Victorious Spain Return To Royal Welcome As Despondent England Snub Fans

Euro 2024 champions Spain have returned home to a royal welcome in Madrid. La Roja defeated England 2-1 in Sunday’s final in Berlin to win their record fourth European crown.

They travelled from Germany to the capital Madrid on Monday and met Spain’s King Felipe VI and his family and presented the trophy to him.

Celebrations are set to continue as fans gather at Cibeles Square in anticipation of seeing their heroes and the Henri Delaunay Trophy.

Meanwhile, the EURO 2024 silver medalists, Three Lions, have arrived in England from Germany after their Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain.

The players touched down just before 2pm as Gareth Southgate and his assistant manager Steve Holland led their players down the plane’s steps as the rain poured down.

The return of the players and staff was a low-keyed homecoming as fans and supporters were allowed to cheer their efforts.

Despite England’s effort to break decades long jinx of no Euro Cup, a decisive right leg hooker from Mikel Oyarzabal gave Spain the late lead.

Earlier, the FA released a statement on X stating: “England’s players and staff will be travelling back on a charter flight and will leave the airport via a private terminal, so there will not be an opportunity for the public to greet them on arrival.
