Truce At Last? Days After Donning Tinubu’s Signature Cap, Obasanjo Visits First Lady In Lagos

It appears a truce might be in the offing between former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if events of the past few days are anything to go by.

A few days ago, the former President was pictured wearing a trademark signature cap synonymous with President Tinubu, and just yesterday, the ex-head of state paid the wife of the president, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu a visit in Lagos triggering reports that a truce might be in the offing.

The Matrix reports that both men had been at loggerheads for a long time now with the former president withholding allocation due to Lagos State while the incumbent president was Lagos State’s governor.

In the build-up to the 2023 Presidential election, Obasanjo refused to support Tinubu’s ambition while pitching his tent with Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.

It is therefore surprising to see the recent chain of events with Obasanjo visiting the first lady in Lagos on Monday.

Busola Kukoyi, media aide to the first lady, shared the picture of Oluremi and Obasanjo in a post published on X.

“Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the First Lady of the Federal of Nigeria Senator Oluremi Tinubu after receiving the Former President who came felicitating on the Sallah Celebration on Monday 17th June,” Kukoyi wrote on X.

The visit comes days after the former president was seen at an event wearing a cap with embroidery looking like the emblem that is usually on Tinubu’s cap.
