Edo Political Squabble: Part of Shaibu’s Residence Demolished.

The travails of The impeached Deputy Governor of Edo State Philip Shaibu continues as men of the Edo State Public Works Volunteers have pulled down the security post in front of his residence, at GRA Benin City.

It would be recalled that Shaibu was impeached by the Edo State House of Assembly about a week ago over the allegation of leaking official secrets and perjury.

Shaibu had condemned his impeachment and approached the court to set aside the action since it was undertaken because of his governorship ambition, which is part of his fundamental human right.

The ripples of the squabble resulted in the demolition of his security post which shares the same fence with the golf course and serves as a shelter for his security details.

According to one of the senior members of one of the agencies that carried out the act who pleaded anonymity, the security post was removed because the former Deputy Governor is now a private citizen and had lost such a privilege.

Meanwhile The State Commissioner for Roads and Bridges, Eta Uzamere denied the involvement of his ministry in the demolition.

“I have seen some online reports linking my ministry to the demolition of the former deputy governor’s security and I can tell you it had nothing to do with my ministry.”Uzamere said.

Reacting to the demolition, an aide of Shaibu said. “As I am talking to you, they have destroyed Shaibu’s security outpost. The place was not built by the government, it was built by Shaibu himself. You can see how wicked the state government is.”
