BREAKING: Customs Unveils Plans for Nationwide Distribution of Seized Food Items

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is ready to distribute confiscated food items to alleviate the current hardships faced by Nigerians, ensuring each item undergoes certification for human consumption before distribution. Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, announced the agency’s plan to donate seized food items to address pressing issues of food security and soaring prices of essential commodities.

In a statement released the same day, CSC Abdullahi Maiwada, the national public relations representative, reiterated the Comptroller General’s commitment to advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s food security agenda. Maiwada emphasized the NCS’s dedication to serving the Nigerian populace’s best interests, fostering stability, and prosperity in the economy.

Furthermore, to alleviate Nigerians’ hardships and improve access to essential food supplies, the NCS will facilitate the direct disposal of forfeited food items to the Federal Government. The specifics of the disposal process will be communicated through NCS formations across the country, ensuring transparency, equity, and public safety.
