FG Launches Taskforce To Tackle Low Gas Supply To Power Generation Companies

An Inter-Ministerial committee from the Ministry of Power and Gas has been established by the federal government to offer sustainable solutions for guaranteeing a consistent and adequate gas supply to power generating firms.

After the two Ministries met in the Office of the Minister of State Petroleum Resources Gas in Abuja, the committee was established.

Ekperikpe Ekpo, the Minister of Petroleum Resources and Gas, described the issues that lead to the insufficient gas supply to the Thermal Power Plants at the meeting.

He noted that these issues include a Decade of Gas legacy debts, the vandalization of gas resource infrastructures in the Niger Delta Region, and the domestic pricing of gas in dollars.

Ekpo affirmed his readiness to collaborate harmoniously with individuals, organizations, and agencies to address these challenges.
