IGP Sets Up Special Squad To Address Bandits In FCT

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, is set to launch a Special Intervention Squad, SIS to arrest the recent surge in kidnapping, killing and other activities of the bloodthirsty bandits in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT,

The IGP said the special operations, when launched, would be deployed to all Area Councils in the nation’s capital city.

It would be recalled that the gunmen have, in the last few weeks, attacked and kidnapped several residents of the territory.

President Bola Tinubu and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike had assured residents of their commitment to ensuring that the security situation is brought under control.

It would be recalled that bandits said to number around 40 stormed the Kawu community in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday and abducted 23 people.

Folorunsho Ariyo, a 13-year-old student, was one of 10 people kidnapped from Sagwari Estate Layout in Dutse, Bwari Area Council of the FCT, on January 7, 2024.

The kidnappers were said to have murdered more victims yesterday, including Folorunsho.

This came barely 24 hours after the killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyat, a 400-level student of Biological Science at Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria.
