- Obasanjo, Akpabio, Abbas, Others Attend Event
President Bola Tinubu, Monday lamented how few people stole Nigeria’s commonwealth under the guise of subsidy in the last 40 years while bemoaning the effect on hapless Nigerians.
This is even as the Nigerian president disclosed that his administration will give more attention to education and healthcare, as well as provide the enablement for industrialisation and investments in consonance with his vision of creating an economically stable and prosperous country.
Tinubu made these known while speaking at the second-term inauguration of Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State in Owerri.

He assured Nigerians that he is well-attuned to the concerns of citizens, assuring them that the challenges brought on by the very essential reforms are being addressed.
“In the past 40 years, a few people were cornering our commonwealth and calling it subsidy, but I call it wasteful. Right now, we are all bearing and sharing that pain. But things are looking up. Things will get better for the good of all Nigerians. With me, there is hope.
“I assure you that there will be substantial development in education for your children; priority is on industrialisation and healthcare will receive more allocation and attention. We will train more health workers.”
“Don’t worry about what you are hearing about the Japa syndrome, we will train more people and we will supply them self,” he said.
The President also assured the people of the South-East that “the peace you are enjoying here will be better and we will work more to achieve that peace”.

Meanwhile, ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas are among the top dignitaries that attended the inauguration ceremony.
Anambra State governor Charles Soludo was also represented at the event by his deputy Onyekachi Ibezim.
Obasanjo was spotted at the event at the Dan Anyiam Stadium alongside other dignitaries.
Residents of Imo State shunned an existing sit-at-home event in the South-East to troop out en- masse for the swearing-in event. They wore colourful attire as they marched through the streets to the Dan Anyiam Stadium.
Monday’s inauguration came about two months after Uzodimma of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) won a second term in office, defeating his closest rivals Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP)’s Athan Achonu
The governor got 540,308 votes, the PDP candidate secured 71, 503 votes, and Nneji Achonu polled 64,081 votes.
