The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has invalidated the suspension of the party’s chairman in Ondo State, Fatai Adams. The state working committee had earlier announced the suspension in a statement on Tuesday, accusing the chairman of alleged anti-party activities.

In response, the NWC, through the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, issued a statement declaring the suspension illegal and of no effect. The NWC emphasized that no state executive possesses the authority to suspend a state chairman without adhering to the due process outlined in the PDP Constitution.

According to Ologunagba, Adams remains the party chairman in Ondo State, and the NWC called on all critical stakeholders to disregard the purported suspension. The conflict arising from this situation may create a rift between the chairman, who has the support of the NWC, and other members of the state executive committee vying for control of the party in the state.

The NWC statement conveyed, “The NWC declares the said suspension as null and void and of no effect, not being consistent with provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) and laid down Rules. The PDP is an organized political Party governed by strict adherence to the provisions of its Constitution and Rules and will not allow any individual or group at any level to violate its Constitution and Rules.”

Further, the NWC cautioned those involved in the unauthorized suspension to reconsider their actions, warning of potential disciplinary or punitive measures to uphold the stability of the party and the integrity of its Constitution and Rules.
