Contrary to reports making the rounds that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has banned the use of locally made travel sacks popularly called ‘Ghana Must Go’ aboard international flights in the country, the aviation agency has clarified that it was actually Ethiopian Airline that banned the use of the hugely popular sacks aboard its flights.
In a tweet on its official X formerly known as Twitter handle, the agency countered the report while clarifying the position of Ethiopian Airlines in banning the usage of the bag.

To confirm this development, the agency posted a circular by Ethiopian Airlines announcing the ban on its X handle.
The statement reads, “Dear valued passengers, we would like to inform you of a restriction regarding the usage of irregularly shaped packages on Ethiopian Airlines flights. It is strictly prohibited to bring “Ghana must go” bags unless they are adequately packed in a carton or hardcover. rectangular container.
This restriction has been implemented due to the frequent occurrence of damages to conveyor belts at various airports, resulting in significant costs incurred by the airlines involved.
We kindly request your cooperation in complying with this rule to ensure the smooth operation of our flights and to minimize any potential disruptions caused by damaged conveyor belts. It would be recalled that a purported circular by FAAN, titled, ‘Re: Prohibition of Usage Of Ghana Must Go’, signed by Manager, Airport Services, Henok Gizachew, dated November 24, had surfaced online announcing the ban particularly for passengers travelling through the country’s international airports.
Gizachew stated that the sack was banned by the authority because it has cost the airlines huge loss and also damaged the airports conveyor belt system.
He noted that passengers who wish to use Ghana Must Go to travel must have the same well package in carton or hardcover of rectangular size.
The popular Ghana Must Go sack which comes in different sizes is very popular among many Nigerian travellers because of its light weight and capacity to carry more loads.
