Ilyasu Musa Kwankwaso, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has cautioned Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, against pursuing a Supreme Court appeal following the Court of Appeal’s confirmation of his removal from office.

Kwankwaso responded to Friday’s decision by the Appeal Court, which upheld Nasir Yusuf Gawuna of the APC as the duly elected governor of the state, in line with the earlier judgment of the Kano governorship tribunal.

Encouraging the governor to accept defeat, Kwankwaso suggested that the evidence presented against Yusuf during the court proceedings strongly indicates that continuing the legal battle might yield the same unfavorable outcome.

“It would be another mission impossible for him to take the case to the Supreme Court, given the available evidence that led to his setback at both the Tribunal and the Appeal Court.

Hence, the need for him to step back and wait until 2027,” stated the APC chieftain during a conversation with reporters in Kano.

Kwankwaso emphasized that Governor Yusuf should have recognized the compelling evidence presented during the court proceedings, making it challenging for the court to overlook in its ruling.

“As a brother, I am using this medium to advise him to refrain from taking his defeat to the Supreme Court and realize that this is not the time for him to serve as the governor of the state,” he added.

In an earlier reaction, Abdullahi Abbas, the Chairman of the APC in Kano State, declared the victory at the Appeal Court as a triumph for all the people of the state.

Abbas expressed confidence in the party’s ability to win even at the Supreme Court, citing the evidence on hand and urged APC supporters to maintain peaceful conduct for a harmonious society.
