Jonathan Votes, Says Off-Cycle Election Not Healthy For Nigeria’s Democracy As Diri, Ododo Cast Votes

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has cast his vote at Ward 13 Polling Unit 39 in Otuoeke, Bayelsa State.

He expressed concern over the spate of off-cycle elections in Nigeria while calling on the National Assembly to create a legislature that would align all the elections as off-cycle elections are not healthy for Nigeria’s democracy.

“I get worried about off-season elections. I am appealing to the National Assembly that we need to block these off-season elections.

“This is not the global best practice. If we continue with these off-season elections, because of our law, it will come to a time when even a presidential election will be off-season”.

“Look at the American system, everybody knows when the American election will be conducted.”

Meanwhile, Bayelsa State Governor and PDP candidate Douye Diri, after voting at his polling unit in Sampou in Kolokuma/Opukuma LGA, expresses satisfaction over INEC’s conduct of the election.

The PDP governorship candidate in Imo, Samuel Anyanwu, addresses journalists over the late arrival of voting materials in Amaimo Ward in Ikeduru LGA.

He alleges that gunshots heard in the ward were by security operatives warding off thugs purportedly attempting to scuttle the electoral process.

Similarly, APC governorship candidate Ahmed Ododo has cast his vote at his polling in Unit 12, Ward 001, Upogoro/Odenku in Okene, Kogi State.
