Court Dismisses Ghandi As Soun of Ogbomoso

Oba Ghandi Olaoye, the new Soun of Ogbomoso, has been dismissed by the Oyo State High Court, which is seated in Ogbomoso. The Oyo State Government was directed by the court to hold a new election for the position of Soun. This came about as a result of a lawsuit that competitor Kabir Laoye initiated.

In his lawsuit, Laoye had said that Olaoye was not qualified to serve as Soun and that, as a result, his appointment was unlawful..
The court agreed with Laoye’s argument and ruled that Olaoye’s appointment was null and void.
The court also ordered the government not to appoint anyone to the position until after its judgement.
The Oyo State Government announced Olaoye as the new Soun on September 8, 2023, and he was installed on the same day
