Regional Flights :Ibom Air Starts With Lagos-Accra Route

Ibom Air, the state-owned airline of Akwa Ibom State, has achieved a significant milestone by launching its regional operations.

The inaugural flight, departing from Lagos to Accra, took off at 7:00 am (WAT) on October 17, 2023, opening up a fresh avenue for travelers to explore the West African region.

This strategic expansion is in line with Ibom Air’s commitment to providing passengers with a travel experience that revolves around punctuality and reliability.

Expressing his excitement regarding this new route, George Uriesi, the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Ibom Air, stated, “We are delighted to kickstart our regional operations today with the first flight between Lagos and Accra. This marks a significant milestone for Ibom Air as we broaden our network beyond Nigeria and into the African continent.”

He added, “With this new route, our goal is to bolster connectivity between Nigeria and Ghana, facilitating tourism, trade, and strengthening economic and cultural bonds. Ibom Air remains dedicated to delivering exceptional services to our passengers, and we invite travelers between Nigeria and Ghana to choose Ibom Air to experience our top-notch service offerings.”

In a show of support for this development, Pamela Djamson-Tettey, the Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “We are genuinely thrilled to welcome Ibom Air to Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana. We extend our congratulations on your decision to operate flights to Accra and are pleased to have you as part of our aviation community.”

She continued, “Your entry into the Ghanaian market will provide the traveling public with more options for connectivity between Ghana and Nigeria. As operators and managers of Kotoka International Airport, we assure Ibom Air of our full support to ensure the success of their operations in Ghana.”
