Manchester United Sale: Sir Jim Ratcliffe Steps Up To Pay £1.3bn for 25 per cent stake in Premier League club

It was thought that Sheikh Jassim’s bid, which valued United at almost £5 billion, was the only one for a 100% stake in the team.

Sheikh Jassim has withdrawn from the process, however it is understood that the Glazers, who have owned United since 2005, did not find the Qatari’s valuation to be sufficient.

Ratcliffe, who has stated that he has been a fan of the team since he was a young child, has put out another proposal to purchase about 25% of the team. This agreement must be approved at this week’s United board meeting.
As part of the agreement to buy 25% of the corporation, Ratcliffe and his business INEOS are anticipated to oversee Manchester United’s football operations. This might be the initial stage of a phased takeover.
