The event is aimed at empowering customers with knowledge and tools to protect themselves against fraud and financial malpractices in the banking and financial sector.

In-house sessions: These are likely to involve training and information-sharing sessions within the bank’s premises.
Train the Trainers Webinars: Webinars designed to educate and train staff members who can, in turn, educate customers about fraud prevention.
Engagement with External Stakeholders: Collaborative discussions with external experts to enhance fraud prevention efforts.
Seminars: Educational sessions for both staff and customers on the importance of protecting their accounts.
Anti-Fraud Clinic: A bank-wide initiative to educate and inform stakeholders on safeguarding their accounts from illegal access.
External Stakeholder Engagement: Scheduled for Thursday, October 19, 2023, this session will feature guest speakers who are experts in fraud prevention and investigation. Some of the speakers include professionals from the Economic & Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), legal experts, and a professor specializing in forensic accounting.
Focus on Prevention and Conviction: The speakers will share insights on better collaboration for effective fraud prevention and minimizing losses, as well as the conviction of fraud criminals.
Digital Age Challenges: The Chief Audit & Assurance Officer of UBA, Sanusi Mudasiru, emphasized the importance of educating customers about the risks of sharing sensitive information in today’s digital age. He stressed that the bank’s priority is the safety and security of its customers’ accounts.
Security Tips: The bank will provide customers with tips and red flags to look out for to avoid falling prey to fraudulent activities. They will also educate customers on securing their mobile phones and social media apps, emphasizing the importance of not sharing sensitive information like PINs, passwords, or OTPs.
