Nigeria Achieves Highest Crude Oil Production in 2023 at 1.35 Million Barrels per Day, Reports NUPRC

According to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigeria reached a historic milestone in its crude oil production, recording its highest output in 2023. In September 2023, the nation’s crude oil production surged to an unprecedented 1.35 million barrels per day, marking a substantial increase of approximately 14% compared to the preceding month, August 2023.

The NUPRC’s report indicates that Nigeria’s crude oil production, excluding condensates, reached 1,346,562 barrels per day in September, representing a remarkable rise of 165,429 barrels per day compared to the August production figure of 1,181,133 barrels per day.

The data reflects a broader view of Nigeria’s monthly crude oil production throughout the year. In the first quarter, the nation’s oil production figures were as follows: 1,266,659 barrels per day in January, 1,292,240 barrels per day in February, and 1,266,737 barrels per day in March.

For the second quarter, Nigeria reported the following daily crude oil production rates: 1,004,392 barrels per day in April, 1,189,332 barrels per day in May, 1,260,928 barrels per day in June, and 1,089,089 barrels per day in July.

The statistics clearly illustrate that Nigeria achieved its highest crude oil production in September, underscoring a significant upturn in the nation’s oil sector for the year.
