The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMOCIDE), Nadungu Gagare, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation.
Gagare gave the assurance during a strategic visit to the headquarters of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), where he led a delegation from the Ministry to review ongoing initiatives and deepen policy coordination between both institutions.
Speaking during the visit, the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, expressed appreciation to the Ministry for the engagement, describing the visit as a critical step toward aligning the Ministry’s vision with the agency’s implementation strategy.
Abdullahi reaffirmed NITDA’s commitment to advancing the Federal Government’s digital economy agenda, while briefing the delegation on key initiatives being implemented by the agency. These include its Performance Management System, organisational culture reforms, innovation programmes, and digital capacity-building efforts.
Gagare, in his remarks, described NITDA as a “vital partner” in shaping Nigeria’s digital future and commended the agency’s contributions to digital skills development, technology innovation, cybersecurity awareness, and support for startups and young innovators across the country.
He urged members of staff to remain committed to professionalism, discipline, and innovative thinking, stressing that the Ministry would continue to provide policy direction and institutional support to ensure the agency succeeds in delivering on its mandate.
The delegation also toured NITDA’s newly commissioned innovation spaces, where they witnessed ongoing projects and emerging technology-driven solutions being developed within Nigeria’s growing tech ecosystem.
Officials said the visit underscored the importance of stronger collaboration between FMOCIDE and NITDA in driving policy coherence, improving implementation, and accelerating the country’s digital transformation agenda.
