The Chairman of the Presidential Committee overseeing the implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s End of Year Transportation Subsidy Programme, Mr. Dele Alake, announced that more than 160,000 passengers have benefited from the initiative, which concludes on January 4, 2024.

Mr. Dele Alake, also serving as the Minister of Solid Mineral Development, shared this information on his official X handle today. He highlighted the substantial success of the program, with both the Nigeria Railway Commission (NRC) and the Association of Luxury Bus Owners of Nigeria (ALBON) reporting significant passenger numbers.

In his statement, he expressed, “As the Chair of the Committee overseeing the Implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s End of Year Transportation Subsidy Programme, I am delighted to announce that our program has achieved remarkable success, assisting over 160,000 passengers nationwide.”

Breaking down the statistics, the Chairman revealed that the Nigerian Railway Commission (NRC) transported approximately 71,000 passengers, while ALBON facilitated the travel of 77,122 individuals during the specified period.

Providing more details, Mr. Alake pointed out that the Oshodi terminal witnessed 652 bus trips successfully transporting 15,766 passengers in the last 10 days. He remarked, “I am pleased to report that between December 21 and December 31, 2023, the NRC conveyed 71,000 passengers, while ALBON buses carried 77,122 passengers.”
