Senate Adopts Harmonised Report On Four Key Tax Reform Bills

The Senate on Wednesday approved the harmonised conference committee report on four major tax reform bills aimed at overhauling Nigeria’s revenue framework.

The adoption followed the presentation of the report by Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance and head of the Senate delegation in the joint committee with the House of Representatives.

The bills transmitted by President Bola Tinubu in November 2024—include:

• Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill, 2025
• Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, 2025
• Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, 2025
• Nigeria Tax Bill, 2025

The harmonisation aligns legislative input from both chambers and paves the way for final passage and presidential assent.

The reforms are expected to streamline tax collection, improve compliance, and boost government revenue.
