Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has disclosed that his life took a remarkable turn for the better following his son’s tragic passing.
Mohbad, who died under controversial circumstances on September 11, 2023, at the age of 26, was remembered by his father during an interview with media personality Akin Abolade, also known as Mrlilgag.
Aloba attributed his improved life circumstances to divine intervention and the spirit of his late son.
“Let me just say yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend. He had planned to do many things for me, but they didn’t allow him. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad and that of God combined that began to send people to assist me,” Aloba stated.
He revealed that compassionate Nigerians gifted him a car, truck, and other assets. “Even the car and everything I have now, it was people that gave them to me, and it is beyond ordinary. So it is the spirit of Mohbad and God that led those people to give me all I have now,” he added.
Aloba also shared details about the challenges Mohbad faced, claiming that his son’s plans were frequently obstructed. He alleged that Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and her family controlled much of the late singer’s property.
“All his landed property is in their possession. Even the land he bought for me to build a church, I forced him to buy and mould the blocks on it. That same land was later used to bury him,” Aloba said.
He further revealed that Mohbad had plans to buy him a house after completing a tour, a purchase that had been paid for before the singer’s death.
Reflecting on his journey, Aloba said Mohbad’s birth marked a turning point in his life. He became a singer after money meant for Mohbad’s naming ceremony was stolen, with the late artist serving as his backup singer from the age of one.
A carpenter, singer, and pastor without a physical church, Aloba disclosed that Mohbad had promised to build him a church before his untimely death. Since the singer’s passing, Aloba has released nine tracks and received widespread support from Nigerians.
