Manchester United Extend Maguire’s Contract, Close To Sealing Amad Diallo Deal

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed the club’s decision to trigger a one-year extension on Harry Maguire’s contract, while also revealing that a new long-term deal for winger Amad Diallo is nearing completion.

Maguire, 31, whose contract was initially set to expire on June 30, 2024, had faced speculation about his future following diminished playing time and losing the captaincy in 2023.

Amorim acknowledged Maguire’s importance to the team despite urging improvement in his performances.

“For Harry Maguire, we are going to trigger our option,” Amorim stated on Friday. “He has to improve on the pitch; we need him a lot. We are starving for leaders, and he can step up to that role.”

Meanwhile, discussions for a new contract with Amad Diallo, 22, have progressed significantly. Amorim highlighted the winger’s key role this season, including his decisive goal in the Manchester derby.

“Amad’s deal is near,” the coach added, signaling his commitment to securing the player’s future at Old Trafford.

However, Amorim has confirmed that Marcus Rashford will miss Sunday’s match against Liverpool due to illness, leaving Manchester United fans eager to see how the team adapts.
