According to the latest data from Nile Media Entertainment Group, ticket sales for the week of December 20 to 26, 2024, reached a record-breaking ₦1.02 billion, setting a new all-time high for Nigerian cinemas.

Funke Akindele’s film Everyone Loves Jenifa has already garnered 153,800 ticket sales as of December 26, 2024, and has grossed ₦782.8 million within just 14 days. The movie is on track to exceed ₦1 billion in sales more quickly than her previous blockbuster, A Tribe Called Judah, which hit the same mark in 21 days.
In addition to its rapid success, Everyone Loves Jenifahas become the fastest Nollywood film to reach ₦500 million, achieving this milestone in a record 12 days. The film also performed strongly on the international stage, earning $100,000 during its opening weekend across nine territories, including the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia. This global success further highlights Nollywood’s growing influence in the entertainment industry.
Everyone Loves Jenifa has quickly become a cultural sensation, contributing to the ongoing rise of Nollywood as a powerhouse in global cinema. The film’s success has solidified Akindele’s position as one of the most influential filmmakers in the Nigerian movie industry.
A breakdown of the week’s numbers revealed that December 26 was the highest-grossing day in Nigerian box office history, with ₦256.4 million in sales. The day saw over 47,500 tickets sold, making it the third-highest single-day sales figure, following 55,449 on December 26, 2019, and 52,563 on December 26, 2018. Everyone Loves Jenifa also became the first film to gross over ₦100 million in a single day, surpassing its previous record of ₦89.8 million.
Throughout the week, multiple films performed exceptionally well at the box office. Everyone Loves Jenifa led with ₦426.9 million, followed by Mufasa with ₦173 million, Alakada: B&B with ₦127.3 million, The Waiter with ₦104.2 million, and Moana 2 with ₦52.7 million.
Industry data from the Nigerian Box Office X page revealed a strong performance overall, with four films surpassing ₦25 million in a single day, five crossing ₦15 million, and six grossing over ₦10 million on various days.
