APC Slams PDP For Politicizing Stampede Tragedies

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for allegedly using the recent stampede tragedies at food distribution centers as a political tool.

In a statement released on December 24, APC spokesperson Felix Morka criticized the PDP for exploiting national grief following the deaths in Oyo, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory, calling their actions “callous.”

Morka pointed out that instead of showing genuine sympathy for the victims, the PDP resorted to political attacks, blaming the stampedes on the APC-led administration under President Bola Tinubu.

He reminded the public of the 2014 Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment disaster under the PDP, which also led to the deaths of many job seekers, emphasizing the PDP’s own history of mismanagement.

The APC spokesman expressed that the tragedies have united Nigerians in mourning, focusing on the need for better planning to avoid such incidents.

He stressed that the PDP’s response was “indecent, insensitive, and despicable,” given its own poor record of governance.

The stampedes, which resulted in several casualties, occurred during food distribution efforts in Abuja, Anambra, and Ibadan.
