JUST IN: Senate Declares Edo Governor Okpebholo’s Seat Vacant

In a significant move on Wednesday, the Nigerian Senate declared the seat of Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State vacant. 

Okpebholo, who represented Edo Central Senatorial District, had been inaugurated as the Governor of Edo State last month, leading to the vacancy of his legislative seat.  

The Senate also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a bye-election to fill the vacant position.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio made the announcement during a valedictory session organized in Okpebholo’s honour. 

Akpabio commended the governor for his service and urged him to continue building on his legacy of good governance as he embarks on his duties as governor.
