Bianca Ojukwu Still Our Member Despite Ministerial Appointment – APGA Chairman

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa, has affirmed that Bianca Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, remains a member of APGA, even after her recent appointment by President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Ezeokenwa clarified that the widow of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu has not resigned her membership in the party.

He noted that Ojukwu, who is a member of APGA’s Board of Trustees, was granted permission by the party to accept the ministerial role.

“I commend the president for that appointment. Bianca is a BoT member of APGA to date and has not left the party. She accepted the appointment as an APGA member,” Ezeokenwa stated.

President Tinubu reshuffled his cabinet in October, appointing Ojukwu, a technocrat and political figure, despite her affiliation with an opposition party. Ezeokenwa described the move as a welcome step towards fostering inclusivity in governance.

“What the president did aligns with my long-standing advocacy for engaging capable Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation, to implement his manifesto,” he said.

Although APGA is an opposition party, Ezeokenwa expressed his desire for Tinubu’s administration to succeed for the benefit of Nigerians, emphasizing the importance of collaboration across party lines.

The APGA chairman also described Ojukwu’s ministerial appointment as a win for the party, showcasing its readiness to contribute to an inclusive government.
