“This Is Not Your Land” – Senator Confronts King Charles III

During King Charles III’s visit to Australia’s parliament on Monday, Indigenous Senator Lidia Thorpe made headlines by interrupting the event to accuse the British monarchy of historical injustices.

Thorpe, known for her activism, shouted that British colonizers had stolen Indigenous land and committed genocide.

“You are not my king. This is not your land,” she yelled before being escorted out by security. King Charles continued his visit, addressing the parliament and acknowledging the country’s Indigenous history.
