NGX: Investors Gain N378bn As Equities Market Begins Week With Profit Making

The equities market got off to a positive start on Monday, October 21, 2024, as investors gained N378 billion at the end of trading on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) to begin the week in the green zone.

This followed a surge in the share prices of stocks like DAARCOMM, IKEJAHOTEL, and SEPLAT amongst others on the trading floor.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization increased to N59.425 trillion from N59.431 trillion recorded by the bourse Friday last week.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 98,694.80 from 98,070.23 recorded the previous trading day.

The market breadth was positive as 30 stocks advanced and 17 stocks declined, while 73 stocks remained unchanged in 8,281 deals.

DAARCOMM, IKEJAHOTEL, and SEPLAT led other gainers with 10%, 10%, and 9.99% growth each in share prices to close at N0.66, N7.70, and N5, 738.20 from the previous N0.60, N7.00 and N5, 217.20 per share.

REGALINS, NSLTECH and CILEASING led other price decliners with 8.20%, 6.45%, and 5.01% decline each in share prices to close at N0.56, N0.58, and N3.60 from the previous N0.61, N0.62 and N3.79 per share.

On the volume index, UBA led trading with 138 million shares in 786 deals followed by STERLINGNG which traded 39 million shares in 108 deals.

ACCESSCORP traded 29 million shares in 450 deals.

On the value index, SEPLAT for the fifth day running came out top, trading stock worth N18 billion in 279 deals followed by UBA which traded equities worth N3.6 billion in 510 deals.

NESTLE traded shares valued at N805 Million in 69 deals.
