Akwa Ibom Government Spends N208.16bn On Infrastructure Projects

The Akwa Ibom State Government has made significant strides in infrastructure development, allocating N208.16 billion for both ongoing and new projects as of October 18, 2024.

This substantial investment aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda, which prioritizes expanding the state’s infrastructure.

According to Professor Eno Ibanga, Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, N51.96 billion was earmarked for inherited projects, including 36 FGPC projects and 51 emergency interventions from the previous administration.

The remaining N151.66 billion was allocated to 50 new projects initiated under the ARISE Agenda.

Notable completed projects under the ARISE Agenda include the Akpan Andem Market Amphitheatre and the Atiku Abubakar underground tunnel.

The government has also invested N4.54 billion in emergency interventions to address critical infrastructure needs.

Professor Ibanga assured the public that contractors are diligently working to ensure timely completion of all projects as the rainy season subsides.

He further announced that several major road projects are nearing completion and will soon be inaugurated, underscoring the government’s commitment to long-term development.
