3. House of Reps: Bill To Create New State Passes Second Reading
On Thursday, October 17, 2024, the House of Representatives took a significant step towards expanding Nigeria’s states by advancing a bill that proposes the creation of Ogoja State.
The bill, sponsored by lawmaker Godwin Offiono and three co-sponsors, passed its second reading without opposition, signaling bipartisan support.
4. Nuhu Ribadu Says Illicit Weapons In Circulation Belongs To Federal Government
The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has disclosed that a significant number of illicit weapons in circulation originally belonged to the federal government.
He revealed that the weapons ended up in the hands of non-state actors through rogue elements within the security agencies.

Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has denied accusations of defaming renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, rapper Falz, following an alleged defamatory audio recording.
The audio, which surfaced last month, reportedly claimed that Bobrisky had paid N10 million to the Falanas in exchange for securing a presidential pardon for a conviction earlier this year.

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Sweden for a two-day working visit focused on enhancing trade and bilateral relations between Nigeria and Sweden.
