Social Media Celebrity VeryDarkMan Claims Presidential Call After Raising Over N33m For NGO

Controversial social media celebrity, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has claimed that he received a call from the presidency following the launch of his Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).

In a viral video on his Instagram page, #verydarkblackman, announced the launch of his NGO, which aims to focus on community development and equipping public schools. He also called on influential figures like Davido and Cubana Chief Priest for support, pledging transparency and accountability.

In a follow-up Instagram post on Sunday, Otse disclosed that his NGO had received over N33 million in donations within 24 hours, with contributions continuing to pour in. He thanked the donors, noting that many gave small amounts like N500, which showed their willingness to contribute despite financial constraints.

Later on Sunday, Otse claimed in another post that he had received a call from the presidency, where his efforts were praised. In a sarcastic tone, he remarked that, given the amount of money he had raised, he wouldn’t be surprised if the government sought financial help from him, referencing recent government loans.

“They said VeryDarkMan, we like what you are doing… I imagine the presidency would wanna borrow money from me since they’ve been borrowing money everywhere,” he said, alluding to President Tinubu’s administration’s recent loans from the World Bank.

He also announced plans to improve transparency within Nigerian NGOs as part of his ongoing initiative, promising to “expose” corruption in the sector.
