VDM-Bobrisky: FG Probes Prison Corruption After Leaked Audio As Seun Kuti Reveals Role

The Federal Government has ordered a thorough investigation into corruption allegations within the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

This comes after social activist Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, released a leaked audio clip suggesting bribery and corruption involving top officials.

On Tuesday, VDM released a leaked audio clip which was alleged to be that of cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye (aka Bobrisky), discussing with another person about how his godfather ensured that he did not sleep in the Custodial Centre, having been sentenced to six months in prison for mutilating the nation’s currency, the Naira.

According to the leaked audio clip, top officials of Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC demanded a bribe of N15m from him to drop money laundering charges against Bobrisky.

However, minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Babatunde Alao, ordered “an unconditional and comprehensive investigation into the allegations of bribery and corruption within the Nigerian Correctional Service NCoS”.

The Minister further reassured that “rigorous, transparent, and impartial” investigation, with disciplinary actions will be taken on anyone found guilty.

Meanwhile, maverick singer Seun Kuti has revealed the role he played in the ongoing drama.

Seun Kuti revealed that he was the one who urged VeryDarkMan to expose Bobrisky after he informed him about the existence of the recording.

Speaking during an Instagram live session, Kuti said, “You people are late to the party, I was the first person VeryDarkMan informed about the story. I gave him the go-ahead to expose Bobrisky.”
