Gawuna Vs Yusuf: Court Reserves Judgment In Kano Gov’s Appeal

Following an appeal by the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, challenging his removal by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has reserved judgment in the case.

The Matrix had reported that the tribunal had on September 20 nullified Yusuf’s election by declaring 165,663 of his votes invalid after Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna the governorship candidate of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) had challenged Yusuf’s victory as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The tribunal held that the ballot papers were neither signed nor stamped by INEC and consequently declared Gawuna, the winner of the governorship election.

Not satisfied with the judgment, Yusuf appealed against the tribunal verdict and urged the court to set aside the judgment.
