Burna Boy At Last At 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards

After a dismal performance at award shows, Nigerian artist Burna Boy has finally turned things around. He won the Best African Music Artist title at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards in the US.

Rapper Ludacris presented the live 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards on FOX on Monday night.

Best Collaboration of the Year went to Rema and Selena Gomez’s song “Calm Down,” which is another song by a Nigerian musician.

The iHeart Icon Award went to Cher, and the iHeart Innovator Award went to American musical sensation Beyoncé.

Taylor Swift led the winners’ chart with six awards including Artist of the Year, Pop Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, Best Lyrics, TikTok Bop of the Year, and Favorite Tour Style.

Burna Boy and Rema now join Wizkid and Tems as the only Nigerian artists to have won iHeartRadio Music awards.

Before last night, Burna Boy had been on a winless streak at award shows, missing out on seven nominations at the 2023 BET Hip-hop Awards, four nominations at the 2024 Grammys, and six nominations at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards. On the other side of the Atlantic, he lost the Best International Artist of the Year at the 2024 Brit Awards.
