Tinubu: Timi Frank Ask Vital Questions

Timi Frank, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy national publicity secretary, has questioned the justices of the Supreme Court about the legacy and precedent they wish to leave in Nigeria about appeals against Bola Tinubu’s election as president in 2023. Remember that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, filed an appeal contesting the Presidential Election Petition Court’s (PEPC) ruling on the results of the 2023 presidential election. The Supreme Court scheduled the hearing for Monday, October 23. In a statement released on Saturday, Timi Frank pleaded with the Justices not to base their decision solely on procedural arguments.

“We know there will be tremendous pressure on you, Justices, to make the wrong decision,” he remarked. Gifts, inducements, and promises will all be present. A few of you are going to retire soon. With what kind of reputation do you hope to retire? Given the number of people who lost their lives during the election, do you want to retire with riches that has been tainted by blood? “The individual who wants you people to perpetrate wrong and cause more suffering for Nigerians may justify you today. God, would He also vindicate you? When you retire, what do you want people to remember you for?

“This is not about Atiku Abubakar, it’s not all about Peter Obi, it’s not about the APM party. But it’s about the legacy and precedent that you are about to hand down in Nigeria. The supreme Court as the last line of defense of democracy and the rule of law must fulfil its duty and this is the moment to do so.”
