Residents Flee as Arewa Boys Invade Community in Delta State

Residents of Bonsaac area of Asaba, Oshimili South Local Council of Delta State have fled their community as a renagade group known as Arewa Boys invade the the area, according to report.

a few others remaining now live in fear as the group harass them with threat to their lifes and property. Community sources narrates that trouble started when the members of the community resisted the formation of a vigilance body by the invaders who’s activities were suspected by the indigenes to be inimical to peaceful coexistence.

Sources declare that Bonsaac’s vigilante group had, following intelligence, arrested some of the Arewa boys, who were said to be terrorising the community at night with motorbikes .

Upon sighting the Bonsaac team, the boys escaped, leaving one of their members, who was arrested alongside his motorcycle, this triggered the mobilization by the boys who invaded the community, ordered the commander of The Vigilante of Bonsaac, Israel Nwebo to produce the seized motorbikes or face their wrath .

Nwebo was said to have notified the Chairman of The Bonsaac Vigilante, Francis Okolo who called for enforcement through The General Commandant Tony Olisa who reached out to The B Division of The Police Command and The State headquarters. Before help came, the boys had assessed the compound of the Commandant, carted away his belongings and set the compound ablaze.

The State Police Commissioner, Wale Abass, directed all enquiries to The Spokesperson, Bright Edafe as he was on official duty in Abuja. Meanwhile The PPRO said that he had not been officially informed of the incident.
