Suspend Admissions Until NECO, NABTEB Results Are Released — OPSAN

The Owners of Private Schools Association of Nigeria (OPSAN) has called for the suspension of the 2026/2027 tertiary admission process until all outstanding O’Level results are released.

In a statement signed by its National President, Prof. Uzochukwu Solomon Nwanonyuo, after a stakeholders’ meeting, the association said proceeding with admissions using only available WAEC results could disadvantage candidates awaiting NECO and NABTEB results.

OPSAN said some schools were still waiting for their 2025/2026 WAEC results, while NECO and NABTEB were yet to release theirs. It noted that several universities had already commenced or concluded Post-UTME and admission processes.

The association said candidates from technical, vocational, commercial and science schools who rely on NECO and NABTEB results could be excluded from admission opportunities.

OPSAN appealed to Education Minister, Dr Tunji Alausa, to direct JAMB to suspend admissions until all O’Level results are available. It also urged the National Universities Commission (NUC) to ask universities to suspend Post-UTME and admission exercises.

The group further called on WAEC to publish a comprehensive list of candidates who sat for the 2025/2026 examination and urged NECO and NABTEB to speed up the release of their results.

Nwanonyuo said all examination bodies should be given equal consideration to ensure that candidates have a level playing field in the admission process.
