FAAN Assures Passengers Of Continued Airport Operations Amid Aviation Workers’ Strike

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured air travellers that airport operations remain safe, secure and functional despite the ongoing industrial action by aviation unions.

FAAN said it was closely monitoring developments arising from the labour action and working with relevant stakeholders to prevent disruptions to airport operations across the country.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the Authority said it recognised the legitimate role of organised labour while supporting efforts by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, and other stakeholders to resolve the dispute.

FAAN said it was collaborating with aviation agencies, airlines, security agencies and other stakeholders to minimise the impact of the industrial action on passengers.

The Authority also disclosed that earlier operational challenges affecting the movement of some flights within the airside environment had been resolved through inter-agency coordination.

“Measures are being sustained to support the orderly continuation of flight operations,” FAAN said.

The airport authority reaffirmed its commitment to keeping Nigeria’s airports “safe, secure, functional and accessible” to passengers and other airport users.

FAAN urged passengers to remain calm and maintain direct contact with their respective airlines for real-time updates concerning flight schedules and possible changes.

The Authority expressed appreciation to travellers for their patience and understanding, while expressing confidence that ongoing negotiations under the leadership of the aviation minister would produce a speedy and mutually acceptable resolution to the industrial dispute.
