Momodu lit the firestorm by alleging that Fani-Kayode—now Ambassador-designate to Germany—once sought his help to reach out to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar when his chances within the ruling APC appeared uncertain.
According to Momodu, the move reflected frustration and a scramble for political survival.
“He came to me,” Momodu revealed, describing the alleged request as part of a fallback strategy when prospects within the APC seemed bleak.
The veteran journalist, who says he has known Fani-Kayode since childhood, did not hold back—accusing him of thriving on political patronage and engaging in needless conflicts despite his privileged background.
But Fani-Kayode came out swinging.
In a blistering response, the former minister dismissed the claims as false, insisting he never sought Atiku’s intervention and has remained loyal to President Bola Tinubu since joining the APC.
“I have maintained restraint, but the time for silence is over. The game is now on,” Fani-Kayode declared.
He described Momodu’s claims as “emotional, unhinged, and devoid of logic,” warning him to “stay in his lane” or face a full-scale political counterattack.
Fani-Kayode doubled down on his loyalty, stating that he not only campaigned vigorously for Tinubu in 2023 but continues to support his reform agenda without apology.
“Unlike Dele, I have remained loyal and committed. I have no regrets,” he said.
The war of words quickly escalated into personal territory, with Fani-Kayode accusing Momodu of hypocrisy, betrayal, and inflated ego, while also taking aim at his current political alliances.
He described the groups Momodu aligns with as lacking credibility and dismissed them as incapable of serious governance.
Meanwhile, Momodu has stood his ground, insisting his criticisms of the Tinubu administration are rooted in principle—not personal vendetta.
The public spat has since snowballed into a full-blown media spectacle, with both men exchanging verbal blows across platforms, exposing deep cracks within Nigeria’s political elite.
Observers say the clash reflects more than just personal rivalry—it underscores the high-stakes politics of loyalty, power, and survival ahead of future elections.
For now, one thing is clear:
This is no ordinary disagreement.
It is a full-blown roforofo fight—and the gloves are off.
