Governor Abubakar Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has hinted he may contest for the Nasarawa North senatorial seat in 2027, citing pressure from stakeholders and a desire to ensure quality representation for the region.
Sule made the disclosure during a visit by state executive council members to his Gudi country home in Akwanga Local Government Area, led by Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe.
“With all the pressure coming from our leaders, I don’t want them to feel offended that I have not been responding. I promise I will contest when the time comes,” he said.
The governor noted that he had initially intended to support another candidate but reconsidered after being persuaded by traditional rulers and senior politicians from Nasarawa North. Sule is set to leave office after serving two four-year terms.
Earlier, Deputy Governor Akabe reaffirmed the cabinet’s loyalty, saying, “We will swim with you until we get to the touch line, and together we will shout hurray! We have come, we have seen, we have conquered.”
